Life in the fast lane!

Technology has allowed us to communicate faster than ever before. Emails can be sent around the world instantly, however in some cases its just made things slower! I'll stay away from people never getting back to you on email because it will just turn into a rant and I'll probably do it in another post in the future. What I'm thinking of is things that are there to make life faster but just slow us down. Take for example the drive thru at fast food places. Everyone is so lazy that they all go through the drive thru, this means no one goes into the place! Therefore its much quicker to park up, go in and get your food. You come out way before you would have ever got it if you had been sat in the drive thru! Another one that got me the other day was a vending machine. Vending machines used to be simple, just press a button and the item you wanted just fell out, well this one was like a bloody robot! You choose the item and then a robotic arm went up grabbed the item and returned to a slot where it could be collected. It felt like one of those fairground machines where you have to grapple the prize (think toy story aliens!). The whole process took about 2 minutes, when a simple drop the item into the hole would have been less then 2o secs! I'm sure I'll think of some in time, maybe make this a regular feature like "things that should make life quicker but don't section" but with a much sharper name!
